As part of the celebration of 100 years of Rotary in Oakville, our club led the organising of an eco-friendly plant swap event at Coronation Park in Oakville. The event was attended by over 50 people swapping over 100 plants and suppported Oakville Green and the Town of Oakville via a community activation grant. You can watch the media coverage of the event at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgrYAg22Bfg and see the original event posting at https://rotarypassportsouth7080.org/page/grow-green-with-rotary
The day started with a downpour, and by noon, it was a bright sunny day. Organising team from Rotary Passport South 7080 arrived as early as 8:30 am to begin setup and labeling the plants already procured for the event. Gradually, as attendees trickled in due to the morning rainfall, the plants they brought for swapping were tagged, and the attendees were given popsicle sticks to indicate the number of plants they could take back.
Everyone got a raffle ticket, and throughout the event, draws were done for special prizes. Enjoy the pictures below.
