In the Rotary world, July 1 is not only Canada Day but it is also the start of the Rotary year for every club. This year, we welcome Jananee Savuntharanathan as our Rotary Passport Club South President and as one of the youngest Rotary Presidents in the world, we are extremely excited to have her lead us for a year where "Rotary Opens Opportunities!"
At our first meeting of the year, we were very grateful to have our members generously donate some “Happy Bucks”, we welcomed our newest member, Pari Gujar to Rotary Passport Club South and we announced our new Paul Harris Fellow Award recipients!
In recognition of their outstanding contributions, exemplifying the highest ideal in Rotary in placing “SERVICE ABOVE SELF,” our members Patricia Gagic, Norma Gamble, Jane McCormick and Jananee Savuntharanathan
recently received their Paul Harris Fellowship Awards. The Paul Harris Fellowship Award is one of the highest honours Rotary can bestow upon a person. Congratulations on this achievement!
The New Year is a time to reflect on the changes we want or need to make. The strategic plan for Rotary Passport Club South is focused on things we want to do more of or do more consistently or even differently to make our club better and stronger.

SERVICE
A Message from The Service Committee
For those that are interested in some learning, we have recorded webinars on topics you may find interesting.
Topic 1) Social Prescribing (1h 18m)
"Social prescribing is when health professionals refer patients to support in the community, in order to improve their health and wellbeing."
This is particularly relevant for those who are socially, physically, medically, or otherwise isolated.
Topic 2) "Genie" (1hr)
A webinar that shows how software is being used to help Social Prescribing.
This was a follow-up session to the Social Prescribing and is lead by the creator of “Genie” and he talks about how it works and the impact it is already having in various areas of the UK where it is being introduced.
Note: the following is an MP4 download of the call, not an on-line video. It will take a minute or two to download before you can access it
Topic 3) "Understanding Non-Violent Racism" (1hr)
Not something we have on our table in the Service Team but a highly interesting and current view of the world many live in…
A mother and daughter speaking about this form of “Kitchen Table” racism facilitated by a well-known Leadership Coach (Vanessa Judelman). Not her normal practise, but she wanted to do it as she felt it was just too important not to share this message.
Vanessa is North York based and has many area clients including U of T, BMO and Sick Kids… She has also worked with the Town of Oakville.
